Guidelines for filming in ecologically sensitive
areas.
County Wicklow is renowned for its stunning scenery
and landscape. Its diversity of the landscape
and its close proximity to Dublin City make it
a very popular film location. This landscape supports
some wonderful habitats for flora and fauna, which
are protected under national and international
legislation.
The guidelines below are intended as a tool to
help filmmakers make the most of our wonderful
locations without harm to the environment.
They are a step by step guide to getting permission
to film in ecologically sensitive areas such as
the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Permission
for filming outside these areas is generally very
straightforward but will of course require permission
from the landowner.
A PDF file of guidelines for filming in eco sensitive
areas will be made available shortly.
Code of Best Practise
The County Wicklow Film Commission is currently
working on a Code of Best Practise for filmmakers
filming in County Wicklow. This will be a set
of simple guidelines intended to ensure that the
close working relationship that exists between
the Irish and International film and television
sector and the stakeholders that support its activities
are safeguarded.
Once the Code is compiled and adopted by all
the stakeholders, it will be published here in
pdf format. Please call back or check the news
section.
