The
Country Wicklow Film Commission is the one stop
shop for road closures anywhere in the County. We
have direct access to all road and area engineers
in Wicklow County Council, Wicklow, Arklow and Bray
Town Council and Greystones Town Commissioners,
and can get advice on your questions and requirements
concerning filming on the roads. Contact us for
a road closure application form and we will take
you through the process.
The application for a road closures takes approximately
four weeks to complete.
There are a number of steps that have to be followed
to obtain a road closure:
1. Contact us to discuss the closure and put
together an application.
2. Wicklow County Council advertises a notice
of intention of road closure in the local paper
at least two weeks before the intended closure.
The County Council will notify the Superintendent
of the Gardai.
3. The public has at least three days, but usually
a week if advertised in a weekly local paper,
to lodge an objection.
4. After three days and considering any objections,
the decision to grant road closure is taken. The
County Council notifies the Superintendent of
the decision.
5. The road closure has to be advertised seven
days before it takes place.
Wicklow County Council charges a fee to cover
administration and advertisement costs. Wicklow
County Council is committed to place the advert
in the local paper to ensure reasonable advertising
costs.
The road closure will be grant subject to the
terms and conditions of the Roads Act 1993.
