FRIDAY, 28TH AUGUST & SATURDAY, 29TH AUGUST
Young Filmmakers Training Programme was established in 2006 and since than has gone from strength to strength. This year’s programme was developed by the Wicklow County Arts Office and County Wicklow Film Commission. Fifty young people aged between 12 and 16 learned to write, act, shoot, direct and edit their own short films under the guidance of a professional training team.
Filmmakers Terence White from Gorey, Alan Slattery from Kilkenny and Therese Dalton from New Ross delivered this year’s programme in three venues throughout the county. The venues being Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, Clermont Campus, Rathnew and Killruddery Arts, Killruddery House Bray.
The training course and Film Festival harnesses the energy and creativity of the young people involved and we are delighted to be able to screen the results of their hard work and enthusiasm.
Wicked Young Filmmakers Festival was established and developed in 2006 by County Wicklow Film Commission, Wicklow County Arts Office and Wicklow Rural Partnership. This proved to be a very successful collaboration. The festival was developed to showcase the work of the young filmmakers who participated in the training courses but was then expanded to include the work of young emerging filmmakers in the county.
In order to support young emerging filmmakers, the Young Filmmakers Bursary was also developed.
